Five Small Business Marketing Tools You Need to Try
In my job, I regularly need to recommend and implement marketing tools for small businesses. Moreover, small business owners and sole traders often need to avoid costs wherever possible. That’s why, it’s important to take advantage of tools and software offering free versions or free trials. I’ve tried and tested these tools and now it’s your turn.
Graphic Design Tool
Canva is a drag and drop design tool used to create beautiful designs for your business. Canva can do it all – create flyers, brochures, logos, social media posts and much more. There’s no longer any need for small businesses to outsource expensive graphic design services. You can use Canva to easily create branded social media posts without a designer. Although you may not have heard of it “Canva is embraced by over 30 million people every month to design around the globe.” (Canva News, September 2020) There is a free version available, so why not give it a try.
Social Media Tool
Hootsuite is a marketing tool used for scheduling social media posts. You can link your social media accounts and post simultaneously on all platforms. It’s a great time-saver and has a limited free version available where one user can link up to three social media accounts.
Email Marketing & CRM
Hubspot CRM and email marketing tool allows you to add forms to your website, start a database of subscribers and send out your own newsletter.
CRM or Customer Relationship Management are tools that keeps records of customer information such as; website visits, newsletter subscriptions, email communications and more. CRMs allow businesses to establish sales pipelines, identify leads and further understand customers to target them more effectively. Read more about CRMs here.
The Hubspot marketing tool includes some complex features but Hubspot has an extensive knowledge base and help articles to assist. Why not try out Hubspot’s free version. Refer to the sign up form at the bottom of our site to see how the free version of Hubspot can be used on your site.
Survey Monkey is an online tool to create and distribute surveys and measure the results. It’s a great way to conduct your own market research and gather feedback from your customers. Take a look at Survey Monkey’s Basic Plan (free version).
If your small business has a website, it should also have a blog. A business blog is a cost-effective way to promote your business online. It takes time to come up with blog topics and learn to write well online but it’s totally worth it. And if you don’t believe me, here’s an article from Search Engine Journal that further explains why small businesses should be blogging.
